DAY 4

The morning is shaping up to be bright and sunny. I have spent too long editing yesterday’s images. I need to get going and make more images!

Yesterday was cold, overcast and windy. Despite the weather, I managed to walk another 5 miles and made some interesting images. I spent much of the day experimenting with two different slow shutter apps. One app really requires a tripod to get steady shots, but the ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) effects were kind of cool.

Someone asked if the Hipstamatic images are straight out of the app or edited with another app. I edit many, if not most, Hipstamatic images, mostly in the app, changing film looks and lens effects. Periodically, I export the images to several apps, primarily SKRWT and TouchRetouch.

The city is full, no packed-full of tourists. It is challenging to get a clear shot of anything. People wake in front of you without paying attention, or maybe just intentionally. The sidewalks are often blocked by the groups of tourists gathered together to hear the tour guilds, while firing away at anything and everything with their phones. You either have to wait to get around them or walk out on street, often in traffic. Irritating!

Time to cut this short - I may add more later this evening.

Off to Coney Island and Brighton Beach!
