DAY 3
I finally felt like I was “seeing” again! Odd things, bright colors, unique angles, and patterns started to reveal themselves to me. I was out and about too early to visit any museums or galleries, so I decided to walk the High Line. I have always enjoyed the views and have had some success shooting there.
The wind started to come up as I headed to MoMA and boom, my allergies were set off by something. With all the flowering trees and bushes, trees budding out, and flowers coming up, I should have expected to have issues. I decided to head to the apartment. I did not think walking around the museum with bloodshot eyes and sneezing, causing concern for the other visitors that I might have a cold or something worse, was a good idea.
I had not anticipated that I would have problems with allergies here in New York. I haven’t been bothered on previous trips, so I did not pack any of my day-long antihistamines, just short-term ones. I took one just after lunch and almost immediately fell asleep. The combination of the increasing distance I have walked each day and the drug resulted in an almost three-hour nap. I just did not feel like heading out again, which was too bad as I had such a good start in the morning.
I had some fun with long exposures and will probably work with that technique and some multiple exposures today. I walked 4 miles yesterday but did not sleep well, so I am uncertain what I will feel like as I start out. I will go with the flow, enjoy the moment!
